The question is: is it possible to use figures in reStructuredtext with
more than one image, for example 2 images each with personal caption and
common caption for both of them?

Currently, this is not directly supported.

As a workaround, you can place images in a table. You may have to use
inline images for that (I never tried). Maybe you can even put figures in
a table -- this would solve the caption + subcaptions in a nice way --
but I don't know whether it works.
